Now Playing: Educational Workshops
Lunacy Stageworks, in association with the Sellwood Community Center, is pleased to offer classes and workshops this spring and summer. Keep in touch to find out what's being offered. |
WORKSHOP FAQWhy workshops?Lunacy Stageworks is founded on a strong community vision. Right at the heart of this is our educational focus. We know the value of opening doors: for most of us at Lunacy, the reason we're working in theatre today is that someone opened the door for us, once. Now we'd like to turn around and open it for others. Who's teaching? Our instructors are trained in the theatrical arts, having earned their BFAs through the rigorous programs offered by Southern Oregon University. Their resumes include a range of professional performance and technical theatre. In addition, they've taught classes in the public school system, led youth work crews in Oregon's wilderness, and headed up summer camps, working with students from preschool through adulthood. How much does it cost?Tuition differs from class to class; however, we place priority on making our workshops accessible to everyday people. We also offer a limited number of scholarships to students who cannot afford the fee. Inquire for details. What will I come away with? The purpose of our courses is to impart knowledge and skills that translate directly into the world of professional theatre. For our youngest students, this means introducing them to body movement and a basic theatrical vocabulary. For high schoolers and adults, it involves equipping them with the tools they'll need in the real world, whether they're headed for a professional audition or a university program. Even if a student isn't bent on a career in theatre, our workshops offer a place to explore the real thing in an open, energized setting. |
