It started, probably, in the Johnsons' living room: The Blizzard of Oz, the revival of The Blizzard, the critically contentious Beauty and the Beast, and afterword, the popular Lizard of Oz. There was of course the infamous hula picture.

That was the foundation, on top of which was built the layer of high school theatre, all comedy of a quirky sort. Then, in Ashland at SOU, there was Woyzeck, The Crucible, Measure for Measure, and The Oresteia. And what can be said about those except that modernism makes some people crazy, witch hunts are dodgy, people should mind their own bedrooms, and the Furies are right?

There was also, at that time, Ex Nihilo. And when the piano lowered from the clouds, one realized it wasn't so far a journey - in spirit - from the entrance of Glenda the good witch as a beach ball.

So much for professional training. I have lived on two continents, I have lived at home, and I have sung in the rain not knowing where I would sleep. I have a BFA in theatre arts and a cat asleep on my table. I love The Stories.
